Summary

 

I am a professional piano and cello teacher and performer, with degrees in Music from Oxford University and The Royal College of music. I trained as a cellist with Jacqueline du Pré.

 

For 15 years, I  was also the CEO of a London-based Events Company, Entertaining London, organising and promoting arts, entertainment, sports and social events for professionals in London and around the UK.

 

As a classical musician, I have performed as cello soloist in concert halls including The Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, St John's Smith Square as well as in shows at theatres such as The Old Vic, London Palladium, Brighton Dome, on television and live Broadcasts for Classic FM.

 

As a Music teacher, I have extensive experience in teaching the cello, piano, musical interpretation and music theory to adults and children of all musical abilities in schools and privately  in London, Surrey, Hertfordshire, New York, USA, and Normandy, France.  I teach both individual cello and piano lessons and group  instrumental music workshops for all ages from 3 upwards.

Since my return from living and working in France for five years, I have my own private music teaching practice in Hertfordshire and teach the cello and piano for all ages and levels of musical ability. I teach a wide variety of classical, jazz and pop music styles and welcome adults learners as well as children from the age of 3. I lead children's piano and cello workshops where children learn to read music and play the piano or cello in groups.

Entertaining London was a social events management Company founded and directed by myself. Pre-internet, from 1997, Entertaining London was London's most successful social events club for young London professionals, organising arts, entertainment, sports and social events every day of the week, often with up to five events on the same day. Regular weekday parties were attended by one hundred plus people and the weekend parties had attendances of two hundred and fifty plus people, similar to the popular speed-dating events of today.

I am an experienced cello and piano teacher having taught both instruments privately and in schools since I was a teenager. From 1990 to 2007, I had my own private music teaching practice in London and also performed extensively as cello recitalist, giving concerts all over the UK, Europe and America.  In addition, I devised, presented and performed my own "Cello 'n' Chat Show' for children and their parents which I toured around the UK and America as well as presenting my own children's music shows on ITV.
